Marketing Guru, Robert Middleton says that the most important business skill of all is the skill of changing paradigms-our assumptions about how business works today.  The business world of the 21st Century is moving so fast, there is serious danger of being left behind.  Here are five rules you need to examine for relevance in the current economy:
  1. Your assumptions about pricing and market strategies
When what the last time you examined your beliefs about how you operate, how you price your product or service and the strategies used to market them?
  2. Your sales and service approach
Look carefully at your product and service offering.  How close does your promise come to what your prospects and customers really want?  What if you offered something new?
  3. Your risk levels and comfort zone
What would you do if you had no limits, restrictions or old ways to hamper you?  How could you make a greater impact and positive contribution to your clients and their customers?
  4. What you need to know that you don't even know you don't know?
Your primary competitive advantage is unlearning and relearning faster than your competition. How much are you investing in yourself and your team to reach the next level?
  5. Your vision for business and life
How much time have you spent visioning, brainstorming and creating the future you really want? Proverbs says that without a vision we are in confusion.  What difference could clarity of vision make?
What is Most Important
The most essential skill is continuously adjusting our mind-set.
Begin by setting aside time on a regular basis to think.  Most of us are way behind on our "think-time".  Time when we can examine what is working well, what resources we have, what we need to be focused on, the benefits we expect to realize and most importantly, the specific action steps we will take right now.
Enthusiastically,

Bob
