Personal Effectiveness begins with Self Management.

Actually, it begins with Awareness--awareness of the need to improve. Awareness is ofter the results of feedback or some type of assessment.  Many people wander around totally unaware of how they are operating.  For example, I recently encountered a rude customer service person who was not only unaware of how here behavior was affecting others (me in particularly), she believed that she could never be any diffent because that was the way she was raised. After all, she was from ____ (part of the country).  Chances are until she has an encounter that will heighten her self awarenesss and choose become accountable for the the management of herself, she will not likely ever be more effective personally or professionally.
