Are you preparing your business to grow?  If so, your company’s value proposition must be strong enough to attract new talent and convince the talent you have to stay on board.  Failing to do what is required to prevent losing key staff now is a costly mistake.

Becoming part of a strong recovery will require three essential strategies:

1.  Retaining top talent who will be a part of executing the plan to achieve company goals.

2.  Optimizing the capacity of all team members to be innovative and responsive.

3.  Carefully selecting new talent as the company prepares for the next phase of growth.

Your talented employees must be inspired to spread good word of mouth about the company. Now, more than ever, leaders must clearly communicate the plan for moving the company from a survival mode to a growth mode in the post-recession economy.  Your staff needs to understand in very specific terms how their own individual actions in the coming months can lend momentum to the company’s financial turnaround. You must also guide employees to achieve new levels of performance in a supportive, energizing environment.

Next, offer employees opportunities for professional development that will take them to the next level of effectiveness.  The use of talent assessments can optimize productivity and minimize potential loss of talent.  Validated assessment tools insure that you have each staff member working in the position where they can make their best contribution to the bottom line.  In addition to boosting earnings, it gives employees a much-needed shot of optimism.  Top Talent recognizes that professional development opportunities are a concrete ‘vote of confidence’ from their employer.

Having a great employer brand and being an employer of choice requires an ongoing focus on Talent Management that begins with recruiting and selection and on through succession planning.  Effective talent management requires an awareness of how your business is perceived from inside and outside, and a commitment to improve and maintain a favorable brand.  Learn more about best practices in talent management so you can positively influence your brand.
